I ran out of almond butter the other morning (my typical a.m. bread-spread) but discovered another yummy breakfast with what was in my fridge. I toasted some whole wheat bread and spread a nice creamy slice of avocado on it and then drizzled it with some raw honey (thanks, mom!). It was delish, filling, and healthy!
Did you know?:
Avocados offer nearly 20 vitamins, and essential nutrients, including fiber, potassium, Vitamin E, B-vitamins and folic acid. They also act as a “nutrient booster” by enabling the body to absorb more fat-soluble nutrients, such as alpha and beta-carotene and lutein. 2 Tbsp. or 2-3 thin slices contain about 4.5 grams of heart-healthy-fat. Beat that butter (14.6 of BAD/Sat. fat in just 2 Tbsp.) Yikes.
Oh, and when you do honey, do it right. Ditch the plastic bear (I know he’s cute) and go raw. Most of the benefits of honey such as its large range of antioxidants in the form of flavonoids, are lost when honey is processed. So get all those vitamins and minerals in its raw, natural form.
Try it and tell me what you think!
